Suspected Scam - Please be mindful and promote awareness

Melton Borough Council has been made aware of scam telephone calls being made in the borough. The scammers are impersonating Council Officers and targeting Lifeline Customers. They are claiming that the contract is changing with the prices increasing, using this to try and access personal information, such as customers' Bank Details.

Please be aware that this is not Melton Borough Council, nor are these individuals affiliated with the Council in any way.

Melton Borough Council will never call you and request sensitive information over the phone. If we need to update you on any changes to the Lifeline contract, we would always contact you in writing using Letter Headed paper and provide contact information for relevant officers within.

If you, or a family member, receive a similar call please do not give out any sensitive or personal information, instead hang up the call, block the number and report to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

If you are ever in doubt of the legitimacy of a call claiming to be from the council, please hang up the phone and call our customer service team who will be able to advise you further.
