1. LEARN MORE ABOUT THE NEW NHS MELTON DEMENTIA FRIENDLY CAFE 'TIMELESS CONNECTIONS' - 30 MINUTE WEBINAR
Join us at 10.00 on 14th May to meet Raj Chavda and hear all about the new weekly dementia friendly cafe which has recently opened in Melton. Link to the Teams meeting here
'Timeless Connections' dementia friendly cafe is be run by Melton and Syston Vale Primary Care Network. It is a space designed to provide friendship, guidance, and respite for those living with dementia, their carers, and their families. Dates: Every Wednesday Times: From 12.00 to 3.00 Venue: Melton Vineyard, The Hope Centre, Nottingham Street, Melton Mowbray, LE13 1NW Cost: £3 person includes unlimited tea and coffee. Food: reasonably priced food and snacks will be available.
2. PEPPER'S - WHAT'S ON IN MAY, MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK QUIZ and VOLUNTEERS WANTED
Please find attached the May Guide for Pepper's activities. Also attached is the arts & crafts timetable because the sessions are popular and some people like to know what we have going on each week! All adults (18+) welcome to any session, no need to book - just drop-in when we're open, free to attend (£1 donation welcomed for tea & coffee).Since 2001, the Mental Health Foundation has been leading Mental Health Awareness Week - bringing the UK together to focus on getting good mental health. This year, the week takes place from 12 to 18 May 2025 and the theme is 'community'. Join Peppers for a quiz night at 18.00 on Wed 14th May. 3. FREE ONLINE WORKSHOPS - SAFEGUARDING WITHIN THE VCSE SECTOR
Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Safeguarding Adults Boards and Safeguarding Children Partnerships are hosting free, two-hour online workshops about safeguarding within the VCSE sector. There are three upcoming workshops, which are scheduled for 25 June 2025, 24 September 2025 and 28 January 2026, from 10am-12pm.Contact [email protected] to receive the Microsoft Teams calendar invitations for the meetings.
4. THE MYTHS THAT KILL MEN - WEBINAR 11 JUNE
For Mens Health Week Mental Health Friendly Places/Clubs in partnership with LPT will be hosting an online webinar to support Male Mental Health.
The Myths That kill Men Webinar - Wednesday 11 June, 7-8pm, online.
Renowned Men's Coach and TEDx speaker, Ryan Parke, returns to LLR for a third instalment of his captivating series of talks on men's mental health.
This webinar, called the Myths That Kill men, draws from over 1,000 sources and Ryan's experience coaching hundreds of men.
He will unveil groundbreaking insights and offer simple steps to support the men you care about, including:
- How all the biggest killers of men are linked and may be avoidable
- The pivotal role that hormones may play in male mental health
- Specific steps that men can take for better health, habits and hormones

5. JOIN US AT OUR DEMENTIA ACTION WEEK CONFERENCE 19th MAY Residents in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland are being invited by the local NHS and partner organisations to attend a conference to coincide with Dementia Action Week (19-25 May).
The event aimed at: "Building Awareness and pledging how LLR will work together to improve dementia diagnosis, treatment and living well with dementia" will take place on Monday 19 May, between 2pm-5pm at City Hall, Leicester City Council, 115 Charles Street, Leicester, LE1 1FZ.
Those attending will have the opportunity to find out more about the new strategy, explore the support that is available and hear about the latest research and treatment options.
The session will finish by looking at prevention, the importance of an early diagnosis and what we can all pledge to support the dementia strategy.

6. MEET THE FUNDERS
Leicestershire based VCSE organisations are invited to meet local and national funders who are actively investing in local community groups. The event presents the opportunity to learn about current funding programmes and discuss your potential ideas and programmes with the funders.
Hosted by Voluntary Action LeicesterShire, the event is scheduled for Tuesday 13 May 2025, 1.30-6.15pm at the Narborough Parish Centre, Desford Road Narborough LE19 2EL.
Confirmed funders include: The National Lottery Community Fund; Severn Trent Community Fund; Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation; Sport England; Blaby District Council and the Office Of The Police and Crime Commissioner.

9. LEARNING DISABILITY AND AUTISTIC (LDA) HEALTH EQUITY EVENT 19th JUNE
The LDA Collaborative aims to drive forward health equity for people with learning disabilities and autistic people across LLR.
The 2025 LDA Collaborative Health Equity Event is taking place on 19th June from 9.30 to 4.30. Our theme this year is bringing together local communities and neighbourhood to have a shared goal of Driving Forward Health Equity for People with Learning Disabilities and Autistic People Across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland (LLR).
